What will I get?

All eligible children born after 1st September 2002 will receive a Child Trust Fund voucher to start their account. The voucher should be sent to you automatically by the Government.

When will I receive the voucher?

You should receive your child's voucher about one month after you first received Child Benefit. If you have not received your Child's voucher you can call the Government's CFT Helpline on 0845-3021470. The Helpline is open between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday.

What is the voucher worth?

If your child is born on or after 6th April 2005, the voucher will be worth £250.

If your child was born on or before 5th April 2005 the voucher will have been worth slightly more than £250 depending on when your child was born. You can check the amount using the table below:

Qualifying for the Additional Payment

As well as the CTF voucher, children in families with low incomes will get an additional payment from the Government. This will be paid directly into the accounts of children who live in families receiving Child Tax Credit (CTC), where household income is not greater than the CTC threshold (£14,495 in 2007/08).
